High paying jobs continues to be at risk, even at Christmas time. Big companies doesn't matter what time of the year it is, in fact, as the forth quarter ends, in order to keep a positive revenue, more job cuts are obvious more than any other time of the year. The magical question is, will you be next up for termination?
In part 1, I told you how to easily to foresee obvious signs such as resume building session and job lay-offs in other departments that can easily trickle down to yours; pay close attention to these signs that aren't so obvious.
3. Letting employees leave early without pay. My job gave out so many signs, even a blindman could easily see what was about to happen. For several weeks consecutively, my high paying job would broadcast through email," any employees wishing to leave early without pay, simply notify their boss." When a high paying job and a successful company such as the one I've worked with starts doing this, you need to worry. What happened next, downsizing.
4. Stock Prices decreases. Investors seem to know something in advance that none investors don't seem to notice in big fortune 500 companies. Our stock suddenly started decreasing in points and never rising again. Ceo's and chairmen will do whatever it takes at any and all cost to keep shareholders happy, even at the expense of terminating their employees. If your company is publicly traded, take notice of their stock prices and follow the ups and downs, it will help you discover what's about to happen.
5. Outsourcing. O.k. this maybe the obvious, but still many are naïve to this because they think their department or high paying job, isn't at risk. Of course my former job suddenly started outsourcing to other countries in several departments, saving the company millions$. Question, if the company can save millions of dollars monthly in one department by outsourcing, don't you think they're smart enough to start outsourcing another position to save a few more million?
From the obvious to the not so obvious, my previous job had all of the above signs and people were still naïve. Now that company eventually laid off more than 25,000 employees within 2 years. Even my former boss was terminated.
Pay close attention to these signs and once again, prepare for the unexpected. Don't listen to your boss when they tend to say, "Not to worry" because sometimes they don't know. Only go with your gut, intuition, and the signs listed here, to determine how to handle at-risk positions at your high paying job.
