BJ and the Bear - Episode 1.09 "Crackers" (1979) Part 1/5 Monday, March 14, 2011

This is an episode of "BJ and the Bear". Aired on April 28th, 1979. Teleplay: Michael Sloan Story: Michael Sloan & Glen A. Larson Director: Michael Caffey +++++ An impressive guest cast - Christopher Connelly, Luke Askew, Richard Bradford, John Fiedler, Edd Byrnes - adds weight to this thinly plotted BJ AND THE BEAR episode. BJ (Greg Evigan) tries to collect $85 in damages from the drunk driver who ran him off the road, but the culprit, town boss Jason Rockman (Byrnes, best known from 77 SUNSET STRIP twenty years earlier), has him tossed out and beaten up. BJ takes a job from pretty psychiatrist (Leann Hunley, later on DYNASTY) to transport some of her mental patients to the local fair for the afternoon, but an obstinate Rockman sends the local sheriff (Bradford) to the fairgrounds to bust up the fun. It all gets weird from here, as though Sloan was trying to fill the hour. BJ rescues a frightened girl stranded atop a Ferris wheel, then chases one of the patients, the not-so-crazy Hilts (Connelly), in a stock car pursuit after Hilts kidnaps Rockman to get him to give BJ the $85. +++++ To my fellow Divas: Here is one of Leann's pre-Days appearances, hope you like it. Crazy to see her in a show she's done when she was our age... LOL ... dammit she was so beautiful back then and is still unbelievably stunning these days! I really really hope Leann will find a new project and return to our screens soon, but until then enjoy the leanntastic CUTESPLOSION here on YT! +++++

Changing Industries? 4 Simple Tips to Move Your Career in a New Direction Monday, January 31, 2011

Do you feel overwhelmed when you think about changing industries? After all, with long workweeks, job-performance demands and trying to have a personal life too it's a wonder any professional finds the time to strategically reposition themselves for a more fulfilling opportunity!

However, I have coached many professionals who have successfully done just that! And I know first hand what works, and how you can easily begin to point yourself in a different direction that brings about the positive change you have been dreaming of.

Here are three tips for helping you to bridge the gap between the job you have now, and the one you really want.

Tip Number 1: Clarity of Vision

It can be difficult to be objective when you're right in the thick of your current job, and easy to maintain the status quo (seeing as that it's keeping you so busy anyway). Recognize that - in order to effect change you need to take action. My best tip for you is to begin to write down what you dream job looks like, why your new industry excites you, where you see yourself going in that industry and what it will mean for you personally and professionally. Allow yourself to dream, close your eyes for just a minute each morning and simply imagine yourself in this new place. Then begin to write things down. Congratulations, you have taken a powerful step forward!

Tip Number 2: Move Forward

Now is the perfect time to move forward! What associations are connected you're your new industry? Are you a member of Linked In? How about joining one of their groups? They have hundreds of groups in virtually every industry! How about subscribing to a trade journal or magazine focused on your new industry.

These are portals where you are going to find access to the people, places and data that you will need to make your career change a reality. Begin to get involved and when you look back several months from now, I bet you will find it hard to believe that your multiple new opportunities are all traceable back to a couple phone calls and emails!

Tip Number 3: Change the Look of Your Resume

In preparation for your upcoming interviews in your new industry you must make sure your resume sends a loud and clear message that you are qualified and talented on several parallels. Not to mention that committing to changing up your resume to match your new direction signifies your new commitment to it!

Here's a quick and powerful tip to quickly matching your resume to your new industry: find an online job description that matches where you see yourself. Print it out and highlight each and ever word and phrase that you have matching experience in (in your current industry). If this is the job you want, then these key words and phrases must have the leading role in your resume in order to spark interest!

Tip Number 4: Be Aware of Self-Sabotage

Don't get tricked into thinking that successful industry transitions happen only to other people, they can and do happen to anybody...including you! So if you find that little voice in your head telling you all the reasons why you can't succeed - that's your first step in acknowledging that your own thoughts might be holding you back.

Many of my clients first shared with me that when it came to changing industries they were afraid they were not qualified, they would have to take a pay cut or they were afraid of possible rejection and lack of support from their family and associates. These very clients went on to successfully change careers while their worries quickly became distant memories!

Even if you are unsure of exactly how to go about it an industry change that resonates with who you are and what you want to do will quickly bring you that wonderful feeling of excitement as you move forward knowing you are doing the right thing for yourself!

Do You Really Need to Print That?

With digital communication quickly usurping conventional postal mail and faxing it is more often than not the case that any written communication we receive is more binary than it is tangible. Although this turn to the electronic may prevent future generations from finding caches of historical manuscripts in the centuries to come and similarly, the heart-strings are less likely to plucked by reading texts from a sweetheart than scented, hand-written notes: there is good to come out of this.

Email, text messaging, VOIP calling, social networking and instant messaging are increasingly sculpting the way in which we communicate with others. They are cheaper, faster and for the most part more convenient than conventional letter writing and posting or indeed faxing. More importantly in the grand scheme of things: they also minimise our reliance upon paper as a medium of communication; which can only be a good thing. Timber is not a limitless resource; the rapid decline in the presence of rainforest pays painful and poignant testament to this- as such it makes sense that a text message is considerably more ecology sound than a letter or indeed a hand delivered note.

Even books and newspapers are beginning to feel the pangs of competition from intangible alternatives. The E Book is gaining popularity, not least as a consequence of developments in e-reader technology and the considerable price cuts for these units which have accompanied the progression in innovation. In the modern day, it is even possible to read a book on your mobile phone. It is worth considering the environmental implications of this for a moment:

A book is written by an author and following negotiations, meetings and edits is finally sent to be printed. The printing of the book uses electricity to run the presses which in turn consume ink and paper at a rapid rate. The finished book goes on a journey from press to warehouse- by motor vehicle; from the publisher's warehouse to the distributors warehouse= by motor vehicle, cargo ship or air freight; from the publisher's warehouse to the stockist...I'm sure you can see the point here. Essentially a printed book has not only required the consumption of the materials that you hold in your hand but also travelled a great number of miles in reaching you. By comparison, an e book has travelled down a cable in electronic form in a matter of seconds- or in the case of an e book downloaded direct to a mobile phone- the intangible book has literally materialised on the screen from the sky.

In the light of all these considerations about just how much benefit digital communication and publishing has on the environment: I urge you to think twice before needlessly printing that email that you've already read on the screen.

Is Bankruptcy Still Safe Today? Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Having problem with your debts? Worry no more! For an alternative to Bankruptcy is available to provide help to your debt problems. And there's no need for you to be in debt for the rest of your life.

Thousands of people around the globe are in the same situation, being engulfed by dwindling credit limits and unaware that their privilege of using their credit card is being taken from them. It's not until then that they came to their senses that the situation is beyond their control. The things they used to do are now denied them, as the result of the insurmountable credit problems. Now even the minimum payment becomes a burden.

In times like this, bankruptcy might seem like the best choice as we look into a solution to the insurmountable debts due to the unplanned expenditures. But, one thing we forget, and perhaps have not anticipated in making such a decision, is that bankruptcy won't end our credit problems. This move is recognized by the state, and although bankruptcy sounds good, the stain of bankruptcy will leave its mark in your credit profile, and it will now become part of your life's testimony, eventually reflecting to your credibility as an individual for the rest of your life.

Are you willing to risk your credit profile? You will be denied some important privileges that other people enjoy. In short, you are financially outcast in society. And not only that, your credit history is important for some employers before they hire you. Perhaps your bankruptcy records overshadow your skills so much that you will not get a chance of employment.

For these reasons, if I were you, an alternative to bankruptcy would be my top priority rather than filing bankruptcy itself. Bear in your mind that the alternative to bankruptcy that I'm about to present to you is only advisable for those people with unsecured debt (valuable things like mortgages and car loans are not acceptable as a form of collateral).

The alternative to bankruptcy that I am referring to is run by non-profit organizations. These people have been in the world of business for a long period of time. They have established a good camaraderie with the community and perhaps to some lenders in the state. Moreover, since this group is a non-profit organization, they faced challenges from other financial institutions, for instance, the banks and money lenders.

The good thing is that this organization offers an amazing service. They will take responsibility for your debt. Now in many cases your lenders will give a 0% interest to these non-profit organizations who promise to take care of your debt. As a consumer, your responsibility is to pay minimal monthly payment to this non-profit organization that takes care of your debt.

So what are you waiting for? This is your chance to get over of your debts and live a debt-free life.

Finally, the best news is that no applicant is denied, provided that your debt is beyond your capacity to pay. So if you are financially hard-up right now, and you're looking for an alternative to bankruptcy, worry no more! Get in touch with this group and let their helping hands take the initiative. Your decision now will determine your financial success tomorrow.

If you want to eliminate credit card debt with an alternative to bankruptcy, click here.

Learning in Leeds Monday, January 10, 2011

During the twentieth century Leeds, previously known as a merchant city, also started earning a reputation as a centre of learning. By the end of the twentieth century, Leeds already had more than 500 different categories of educational institutions including universities, colleges, schools, and technical training centres in and around the city. Some of them like the Metropolitan Leeds University, the Open University in Yorkshire, and Leeds University are household names. Aspiring students will not find it difficult to gather information on prospective universities or educational institutions since all information relating to these items is available through the online directories for visitors to the city. In these directories, information relating accommodation, courses of study and all related topics are available. In fact a visitor is only a mouse click or keystroke away from a great future in Leeds.

The Metropolitan University of Leeds, also known as the Leeds Met, has been nominated for the Times Higher Education Supplement's University of the Year award for the year 2006. It has also been nominated for the outstanding contribution to the local community award for development work. The university hosted a lecture by Professor Lori Beckett entitled 'The Curriculum Imagination' on the 5th October 2006 which happens to be the inaugural day of the University itself. The event took place in the Lecture Theatre of the E. James Graham Building, situated at the Headingley Campus. This university accommodates students from not only England but all over the world. This year the university is also holding its centenary celebration since it has now completed a century of teaching in Leeds. The university is located at Calverley St, Leeds, at a distance of 0.3 miles to the north of Leeds city. The university is widely acclaimed for its standard and novel ideologies and houses thousands of overseas students.

A novel innovation by Leeds Met is the Leeds Universities Crime Reduction Partnership which provides a unique way to protect the students against possible crimes. The move has been applauded world wide and by the British Government. There are several collaborators in this process including the Street Crime Initiative for West Yorkshire, representatives from Leeds Met, the Students Union, the authorities of the University itself, members from Leeds University Union, representatives from West Yorkshire Police and also Unipol Leeds who have joined hands in a partnership to fight crime and provide a safe environment for students who study at Leeds Universities. The system includes high visibility policing by university security staff and West Yorkshire Police in student areas. A major achievement has been obtaining funds from the Home Office for the project and for an extended bus service. There are 56 bus routes that give the students an affordable and safe way to get home late at night. Leeds City Council has also extended its cooperation for the project by widening CCTV coverage near the universities. The system is not only novel but potentially very fruitful too, since a recent survey revealed that at least one in every three students is a victim of crime in Leeds. Leeds has therefore become a national leader in developing this effective forum to fight crime. The Walksafe plan introduced for student safety is something lots of others are trying to emulate worldwide.

The Open University in Yorkshire is part of the national Open University organisation. It is open to new people, places, methods and ideas while providing high quality university education to students. One very good thing about this university is that local guides and staff are available to provide support to students when required. The Open University in Yorkshire has 70 staff and 500 part time tutors. These staff and tutors support around 8000 students studying with the University. The Open University offers courses in 12 subjects that include arts, computing, management and psychology. Another notable feature is that a low income family that has an annual income of 25,645 pounds or less may recieve assistance with course fees.

Leeds University is one of the largest universities in England and a major teaching and research institution in the United Kingdom. While it is ranked among the top ten UK universities it is also widely known as one of the six original civic universities in England. Civic universities in England are those universities who never took religion or ethnic background of the students into consideration during enrolment. This was the reason they were named 'red brick' universities. The university is located one mile north of Leeds city centre and is within walking distance of the city centre and the district of Headingley. You can enter by car through Woodhouse Lane near the Parkinson building, also known as the University Tower.

St James's is probably the most famous hospital in Leeds, popularly known as Jimmy's. It houses the clinical science building of Leeds University and an extensive library. St. James is Europe's largest teaching hospital. Presently the largest Oncology Department in Europe is being set up here.

The Leeds Bradford University Centre of Cricketing Excellence (commonly abbreviated as Leeds/Bradford UCCE) is part of the six University centres of Cricketing Excellence supported by the famous Marylebone Cricket Club or MCC in short. This sporting university is yet to achieve a first class status in the English cricket league, but already has had some notable achievements, such as beating Surrey county team in 2005.

Leeds university is very versatile academically. In addition to the traditional academic curriculum based university, it is also a medical and a sports university. Leeds University has come a long way since 1880 when the first institution, named Victoria University, was set up in Leeds. The Victoria University had a short life. The Leeds University came into existence in the year 1904 when a royal charter was granted in its favour by Edward VII. Since then the University has witnessed many evolutionary and revolutionary improvements. Its two unique features are the avenue it provides for its students to participate in extra-curricular activities and the attempts made to provide a safe studying environment for its students.

Internet Advertising Through Websites Saturday, January 8, 2011

With the growth of information technology on the internet has increased the amount of time people spends on it, which has generated a new market for internet advertising. Some of the wealthiest and big companies in the world have made sure that they get a part of internet marketing pie that proves to be a good reason for them. As many companies are looking for advertising opportunities in a specific market, internet advertising offers some great targeting methods which ensure that those who see your ads are the ones most likely to buy.

It is not possible to get a clear idea of how many people see advertising through traditional means, as it is difficult to track the reach of newspaper and television advertisements. Whereas internet advertising allows the advertiser to track the number of impression of the visitors an ad gets, and also how many of them visits their business website because of the particular ads. Thus it makes easy for the client to see what kind of conversion rates internet advertisements are getting through web design as compared to traditional advertising.

In case of limited budget, internet advertising can be the best option among traditional method and latest technology. A small yellow page ad can cost several dollars, whereas through internet advertising you get charged only when the visitor clicks on the advertisement, that sounds pretty cheaper. The conversion rates from internet marketing are much better than from the traditional methods as it has the ability to track the effectiveness of the ads from web design. As the internet spans the whole world, the targeted market is scattered all around the world can be targeted at once, instead of trying different publications and other means of advertising for different areas. On the whole, internet marketing can be a great way to get the word about your products and services in a cost effective and efficient way.

High Paying Jobs - Discover Instant Signs & Warnings That Leads to Downsizing - Part 2 Wednesday, January 5, 2011

High paying jobs continues to be at risk, even at Christmas time. Big companies doesn't matter what time of the year it is, in fact, as the forth quarter ends, in order to keep a positive revenue, more job cuts are obvious more than any other time of the year. The magical question is, will you be next up for termination?

In part 1, I told you how to easily to foresee obvious signs such as resume building session and job lay-offs in other departments that can easily trickle down to yours; pay close attention to these signs that aren't so obvious.

3. Letting employees leave early without pay. My job gave out so many signs, even a blindman could easily see what was about to happen. For several weeks consecutively, my high paying job would broadcast through email," any employees wishing to leave early without pay, simply notify their boss." When a high paying job and a successful company such as the one I've worked with starts doing this, you need to worry. What happened next, downsizing.

4. Stock Prices decreases. Investors seem to know something in advance that none investors don't seem to notice in big fortune 500 companies. Our stock suddenly started decreasing in points and never rising again. Ceo's and chairmen will do whatever it takes at any and all cost to keep shareholders happy, even at the expense of terminating their employees. If your company is publicly traded, take notice of their stock prices and follow the ups and downs, it will help you discover what's about to happen.

5. Outsourcing. O.k. this maybe the obvious, but still many are naïve to this because they think their department or high paying job, isn't at risk. Of course my former job suddenly started outsourcing to other countries in several departments, saving the company millions$. Question, if the company can save millions of dollars monthly in one department by outsourcing, don't you think they're smart enough to start outsourcing another position to save a few more million?
